Watermelon is up there in the pantheon of great fruits. I’d venture to say it’s my favorite. Almost nothing beats a crisp sweet watermelon on a hot summer day. Watermelon is as the great Jackie Chiles from Seinfeld once said, “it’s delicious, scrumptious, outstanding.”
So okay we get it you LOVE watermelon.
Anyways, growing up my grandmother would always make us watermelon drinks after a day of playing outside in the pool. The watermelon drink at it’s core is really simple. It’s just watermelon that’s been blended. This is a great drink for parties or if you’ve come home from work and just need something to change the taste of your mouth. My version is non-alcoholic. I’m going out on a limb here and saying you can make this an alcoholic drink should you care to do so (does sarcasm translate well over the inter webs?)
I’ve only altered that slightly. I didn’t want to take away from the watermelon flavor by masking it with all sorts of other flavors.
Recipe
3 or 4 Cups Watermelon
2 cups Ice
1/8 Cup Simple Syrup
Okay so this is the most complicated set of instructions I’ve ever had to do. SO complicated that I had to use this visual aid.
My brain hurts from all that thinking I had to do to make those instructions up. Once you’ve put everything in your blender, blend away. If you are preparing this for a party, I would blend it again before serving since it tends to separate quickly.
Enjoy!
