The Gluten Free Bar Chocolate Peanut Butter Review

I’m starting a new series where I review the various “healthy” “all-natural” bars. I’m always attracted to buy these at the store. It’s probably the 5 year old in me that’s attracted to fancy wrappers and catchy descriptions. I’m a sucker for a delicious description! First up on the docket is the “Gluten Free Bar: The GFB” Chocolate Peanut Butter.

Appearance: Looks like your standard health food bar, slightly too Power Bar esque for me.

Nutritional Value: Reasonably healthy, not an exorbitant amount of sugar, and an okay amount of protein for a snack.

Taste: Let’s get down to brass tacks here, I don’t care about the above IF it tastes delicious. And delicious it is…NOT!! It tastes too much like a Power Bar. It has dates in the bar, so it has a heavy date flavor. It uses a chocolate liquor as a sweetener so it has a funny liquor flavor. The peanut butter flavor is non-existent. It does however have a nice consistency though. The crunch has a good crunchy texture. But all in all, I couldn’t finish the half that I split with the Mrs.

Overall: D , the crunch is the only thing that saves this from being an F.

Join me next time, where we tackle another health bar!
