The Kitchen Playlist is back! This week I’ve dug up some of my indie favorites from the past few years that you might not know about. And if you do know about them…well… you win the indie rock prize of trumping me and I applaud you. Because who doesn’t love trumping someone else on knowing a cool band before anyone else?

-The Silver Seas – Ms. November – This band used to be called “The Bees” but there is another band called that, so they changed their name. This song is great and will instantly become one of your favorites.
-The Silver Seas – Imaginary Girl – This is a sweet song that will impress any girl if you are a boy looking to find the right song.
-The XX – Crystalised – A lot of The XX songs sound similar, but they are great and have a cool vibe. This is a good song to introduce yourself to the XX.
-Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 – Neutral Milk Hotel are one of the titans of indie rock. They haven’t put a new album out in ages and only recently went back on tour. This song has an upbeat sound despite having a dark meaning.
-A Silent Film – Danny, Dakota, and the Wishing Well – This is a fun song that has a great tone to it. It builds and has a epic tone to it.
-Big Data – The Business of Emotion – Big Data was a huge hit this past year with their song “Dangerous”, this is their next single and it’s very catchy.
-Blood Orange – You’re Not Good Enough – Blood Orange has a funky and unique sound. I definitely recommend getting into them if you like artists that have some funk.
-Telekinesis – Coast of Carolina – This is an indie song from a few years ago but it’s very catchy. This band never really caught on, but this song is a gem.
-My Little Pony – Macgyver Blues – Who doesn’t love songs about Macgyver? This song rules.
-Fountains of Wayne – Mexican Wine – You know them from Stacy’s Mom, but this band has way more to them than that one popular hit. Mexican Wine is a really fun and catchy song.
