Oatmeal for me growing up was one of my favorite breakfast things to eat. My mom still to this day I think makes the best oatmeal. In my house we never had instant oats, so my mom would always make the oatmeal from scratch by cooking the oats with some milk and then she would add honey and cinnamon. It was always so delicious and it was the perfect thing on a cold wintery day.
My fiancee loves oatmeal, especially oatmeal made from scratch not oatmeal from a packet that has tons of sugar and weird preservatives in it. So whenever we want something different for breakfast I make this for us. It’s so satisfying and it’s relatively good for you depending on how much sweetener you add to it.
I always have peeled frozen apples in my fridge for morning shakes, so they these apples go perfectly in the oatmeal. By the time the oatmeal is ready the apples have softened just enough but they have a good crunch to them still.

Recipe
Ingredients
1 Cup of Oats
1/2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
2 Tbsp. of Maple Syrup or Honey
1/2 Cup of Peeled Diced Apples
2 Cups of Milk
Method
In a small pot, add your oats, milk, cinnamon and apples. On a medium low eat slowly stir the oatmeal until it gets a nice thick soupy consistency. This should take about 5-10 minutes. If the oatmeal is too thick (almost paste like) add more milk or water. If the oatmeal is too soupy (like really soupy) add a little more oats or just turn up the heat, the oats will soak up the moisture eventually.
Once the oatmeal is ready, add your maple syrup or honey and enjoy!
