Come for the Frozen Yogurt, Stay for the Crepes: Whirlz Yogurt Bar

Nestled away in a sleepy shopping center in Dorsey Hall in Ellicott City is a frozen yogurt shop called, Whirlz Yogurt Bar.

For those of my readers not in Maryland, this post probably wont interest you, so I apologize in advance. Whirlz Yogurt Bar has been around for a few years now, and slowly but surely it’s building a reputation for having…. wait for it……

Out of this world Crepes & Waffles.

What’s a crepe? A crepe is thin pancake that originates from France.

In Maryland, you can’t really find that many places that do crepes well. There’s Sofi’s Crepes who has several locations across Maryland, and their crepes are great. But none of the locations are that convenient for anyone living in Howard County.

That’s where Whirlz comes in, don’t let the name fool you, you really want the crepes when you come here. The Owner who typically is manning the shop himself, will probably tell you the same thing. His crepes are incredible, they’re delicate yet flavorful. He offers a wide range of toppings and fillings for your crepes, more sweet than savory, but you really should just go with the biscoff filling/topping and call it a night. It’s basically cookie butter and it’s basically heaven in your mouth.

Whirlz also offers authentic Belgian Liege Waffles and he has teamed with La Pearl Waffle Truck to sell La Pearl’s Waffles out of his shop. Prior to that he was selling his own waffles, which I personally think were better, but if you’ve never had an authentic Liege Waffle you should try one of these as well.

My dream is to just fry up a chicken breast and bring it over to eat with one of the waffles, because there needs to be a chicken and waffles place in Howard County and if no one’s going to do it, well I’ll bring the chicken and waffles to me!

Whirlz is really a neighborhood gem, the prices are reasonable and the Owner is a great guy. He’s friendly, candid, and always open to suggestions or requests from his customers. Whirlz is an ideal spot to grab dessert with friends or to get a quick breakfast in the morning. We’ve stopped by twice in the past week because these damn crepes are just that good.

Oh yeah, they have frozen yogurt too, but really why have frozen yogurt when you can have heaven on earth in crepe form?
