Corner Stable – Hunt Valley, MD

April 21, 2015 by theunmanlychef

Baby Back Ribs

If you are jonesing for some ribs and you’re in the Towson or Columbia area, I have the place for you. The Corner Stable.

I recently went to the one in Hunt Valley, MD just off of York Road for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The Corner Stable does a good job of not f’ing things up. Too often with any rib joint, the restaurant will try and re-invent the wheel with the ribs. The end result is a rack of ribs that just don’t do the job.

The baby back ribs at the Corner Stable are served with a delicious house made BBQ sauce that has a nice tanginess to it. The ribs themselves are cooked pretty much to perfection, the meat falls off the bone. You get a hefty serving of fries with it that are also prepared well. The Corner Stable is not going to wow you with its culinary exploits, but it is a solid option with a home run hitter on its menu.

If ribs aren’t your thing or you just want something else, they have a pretty extensive menu. It’s a lot of your standard bar food fare with sandwiches and steaks littering the menu. I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich and I was impressed, by the simplicity yet deliciousness of it all. When you think of barbecue you think of cole slaw, so the folks at Corner Stable do you one better and put the cole slaw directly on the sandwich. The end result is deliciousness. I opted out of the fries and ordered the mac & cheese, it’s meh. Order the fries.

Overall, the Corner Stable is a great lunch spot. The prices at the Corner Stable are very reasonable, especially for lunch. For lunch, you can get a half rack of ribs and a side of fries for just 10.99. Compare that to an over-priced sandwich place and you suddenly have a deep internal conflict to deal with. Ribs…Sandwich… Ribs…Sandwich. RIBS.

Would I seek this place out all the time? Probably not, that’s not because the food isn’t good, it is, it’s just not the healthiest place to eat at.  But if you are in the mood for ribs, I highly recommend stopping by here.
