The apple turnover is an insanely easy dessert that you can make when you’re in a jam. All you really need is apples and puff pastry. Puff pastry really should be a staple of your freezer, it’s cheap and a great dessert base.
Apple turnovers are like mini apple pies, they are satisfying and delicious. You need more of these in your life. Apple turnovers are an iteration of what’s commonly found around the world, which is stuff wrapped in bread. The stuff wrapped in bread phenomenon really has stretched across the world from Central Asia all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. Empenada? Stuff wrapped in bread. Borek? Stuff wrapped in bread. Pierogi? Stuff wrapped in bread. You get the point, people love wrapping yummy things with bread. I don’t blame them.
This really is no different, it’s hard to screw up honestly. Just make a tasty apple filling (or any fruit filling honestly) and make little turnovers with the puff pastry. The end result is always deliciousness, trust me.
Enjoy.
