So nothing makes me happier than when my life becomes or mirrors any portion of a Simpsons episode.Well that’s about to happen next week when I will be covering the Maryland State Chili Championship, and possibly judging the chili itself. If you haven’t seen this episode of The Simpsons, you need to, it even has a Johnny Cash cameo.
If you follow this blog you know that I do enjoy a good bowl of chili. While I’m no expert, I do make a good bowl, for more chili info and recipes click here.
So every year the International Chili Societies (ICS) holds a chili world championship. Chefs from all over compete in said chili championship to reign supreme over everyone for chili cooking bragging rights. In Maryland, over 40 competitive chili chefs will be competing to represent Maryland in that competition.
On July 18th the ICS is holding the Maryland State Chili Championship, it’s taking place at Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park right in Fells Point. The event will have beer provided by Union Craft Brewing along with other delicious non-chili foods. On top of that there will be booths and sponsor booths, who doesn’t love booths with the potential of free swag?! SWAG!
All funny business aside, chili is serious business for some folks so this should be a really good time.
All the profits of the event go to a great cause which is the Living Classrooms Foundation, they help fund all sorts of education projects around the city of Baltimore. Tickets for the event are just $10.00.
Don’t miss the chili cook off, I mean honestly how many of you have ever really been to one? I thought it was something out of the movies or a Simpson’s episode! Plus it’s a Saturday in one of the nicest parts of Baltimore, is there anything better?
