Jurasic Pork – BBQ Food Truck

April 20, 2016 by theunmanlychef

You guys, there is a food truck in Baltimore that is just waiting for you to come visit it.

I’ve never really been too impressed by the food truck phenomenon, mostly because I think the food is usually over priced and mediocre.

But Jurasic Pork is something different, they are putting out grade A BBQ that beats anything you can get anywhere else.

The food is unreal, the first time I went there, I tried the mac-daddy sandwich which is pulled pork with macaroni salad on top. They added a spicy sweet yellow sauce that marries the entire thing together on a sweet almost brioche like bun. The pork is tender and juicy while the sweet/sour flavor of the macaroni salad is the perfect dance partner for the pulled pork. I also tried the truck made cornbread which is ridiculous, it’s a sweet corn muffin spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon. The unusual spice combo works perfectly and it was just the right thing to go with the spicy pork. I could’ve eaten 10 of these things, the Owner is a delight and if he’s not busy strike up a conversation with him as he has great stories to tell.

I’ll be sharing his story in a upcoming profile, you need to hear his story.

As you can see by the photos I was in such a hurry to scarf this down I could barely compose myself to take a proper photo. The food blogging world is a tough place people, decisions have to be made, and putting down this sandwich was NOT an option!

I was so impressed by the food at Jurasic Pork, I went back a week later and tried the deep fried beef ribs with a bacon marmalade on top of it. This may be one of the best things I have ever eaten, especially if you like beef ribs.

First off, the rib was enormous! One rib is all you need. It’s so delicate and tender that I could use a plastic knife to take it apart. The meat itself melts in your mouth, while the bacon marmalade adds just enough sweetness. Ask for the dipping sauce he gives with the sweet potato fries and dip the rib meat in that (it’s a white mayo-ish sauce that’s so satisfying), it’s the perfect combo.

If you find yourself at the corner of Charles and Baltimore (that’s a location they frequent) around lunch time during the work week, look for the Jurasic Pork truck and move quickly. You will not regret it.

*Also there’s a disco ball inside their truck and they are blasting Third Eye Blind frequently which also makes them my favorite*

Overall Grade: A
