Oatmeal with Quinoa

December 29, 2016 by theunmanlychef

This is a sponsored post, all thoughts and opinions are my own

Oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfasts to eat, it’s always satisfying and it’s relatively guilt free. I was asked by the folks at Maypo to try out one of their new oatmeal products. I know, the world of oatmeal testing is a fast and crazy place, one minute your eating oats out of a canister like a feral child and the next your being whisked away to high brow oatmeal tasting events.

Anyways, I had never heard of Maypo before so I figured why not? Maypo is a famous instant oatmeal brand, it’s famous for coining the term, “I want my Maypo!” which is what “I want my MTV” copied. Maypo is known for it’s classic maple syrup flavor that is in their oats, in fact they’re the world’s first brand to carry maple flavored oats.

Quinoa is all the rage these days, so why not put it in your oatmeal? Quinoa is is rich in fiber, protein, and other important minerals. The nice thing about instant oatmeal is that it cooks up really fast, I prefer the stovetop still but even then it’s easy.

This dish is a no-brainer, it’s fresh oatmeal with quinoa paired with some fresh berries and pistachios for a delicious morning treat.

Recipe – Maypo Oatmeal with Quinoa

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Maypo Oatmeal with Quinoa

2 Cups of Milk

2 Tbsp. Honey

1 Tsp. Cinnamon

1 Tbsp. Crushed Pistachios

Fresh Berries

Method:

Step 1 – Pour Maypo mixture into a medium sized pot, add milk.

Step 2- Bring mixture to a simmer, stir constantly.

Step 3- Once mixture has thickened, make sure it’s not too thick, add your honey and cinnamon. Stir it in.

Step 4- Pour into a bowl and add your berries and pistachios.

Enjoy!
