Baltimore – Light City Festival

Hey People, if you’re looking for something fun and original to do this Spring, I highly recommend you try out the Light City Festival and Conference, starting March 8th running through to April 8th.
What’s Light City?
 Per them:
Light City is a free festival that transforms Baltimore with large-scale light installations, performances, music and innovation. Central to Light City is the BGE Light Art Walk along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor,  featuring more than 50 attractions including illuminated sculptures, projections, interactive technologies, performances, concerts, food vendors and a children’s area.

The impact of the 2016 festival is pretty staggering. Here are some FACTS, not fake-news. But FACTS:

  • It attracted 400,000 visitors over 7 nights
  • It’s estimated that Light City visitors spent more than 1.8 MILLION dollars at local restaurants and businesses, when they came to visit. Moreover, visitors spent an additional 4.4 MILLION dollars at local hotels! Visitors generated approximately 33.8 MILLION dollars in direct and indirect spending for the city. Momma like $$$$
  • It supported over 818 full time jobs too!

So you get the point, Light City is great for the city itself.

The Light City organizers are also bringing you Labs@LightCity, six innovation conferences that are dedicated to sparking social change. There is the EduLab, GreenLab, DesignLab, HealthLab, SocialLab, and most importantly FOODLAB!!!!
The FoodLab@LightCity is going to feature some of the top culinary minds and chefs in the food world. Plus Woodberry Kitchen is going to give attendees a delicious lunch at the same cost it would take to produce a school lunch! So who are these awesome guests they have slated? Uhh just MARCUS SAMUELSSON (award winning chef, restaurateur, author, and otherwise awesome human being). In addition to Chef Samuelsson, you’ll have industry experts like Spike Gjerde and Phil Han of Dooby’s Cafe.

It’s going to take place

Saturday, April 8, 2017
IMET Columbus Center, 701 E Pratt St
Baltimore, MD 21202

If you’d like to attend this or any of the other labs click here. (tickets are $149)
Light City is a great addition to the art scene in Baltimore and it’s a boon for the local economy. FoodLab@LightCity will be a huge success and you should join in on the fun. Plus you get to meet/see some fun food people! Tell me you have a better way of spending your day on a Saturday?
