Bagel Bin – Columbia

December 4, 2017 by theunmanlychef

Howard County has few institutions when it comes to food. Growing up, the place to go for bagels was Bagel Bin, folks always went to Bagel Bin to get fresh bagels and hot coffee. But like many things from the past things have changed, franchise fast casual breakfast restaurants have eaten away at the local mom and pop breakfast spots. Like a slow moving parasite franchise breakfast/coffee places have replaced local breakfast places and in their stead you have coffee drinks I can’t pronounce and sandwiches that are dry and poorly put together.

Thankfully for those of us who live in Columbia,a place like Bagel Bin still exists. Located in the redone Wilde Lake Village Center, stepping into the restaurant is akin to stepping into a early 90’s time machine. From the light pink furniture decor and burnt tan quarry tile on the floor, Bagel Bin is place that knows what its good at and it doesn’t care for stupid pretentious decor that at the end of the day is meaningless.

Bagel Bin’s menu has numerous options for your breakfast and lunch desires, from your standard breakfast bagel fare to other more creative options. The bagels are all made in house and pretty damn delicious you can’t really go wrong with your bagel selection. I always opt for the chicken salad sandwich and it’s one of my favorite things here, the sandwich has the perfect ratio of chicken to mayo to celery, it’s perfection. The only knock on this establishment I would say is probably their baked goods, their average to mediocre at best.

Bagel Bin is a neighborhood gem that should be celebrated, I encourage you to visit for all your breakfast and lunch needs if you’re in the area.
