Mozzarella Sticks

December 10, 2018 by theunmanlychef

Mozzarella sticks are a delicious treat, literally what is better than fried cheese? My first experience with them came like I think every red blooded American has experienced them, at TGI Fridays. My little heart was so excited to see such a delicious treat on the menu. Fried cheese was never an option in our house, primarily because I don’t think my parents really knew it existed.

Biting into mozzarella sticks is food at its best, you got crunchy, you got chewy, and you got cheesy! The common perception of mozzarella sticks is that they are bar food and not worthy of being elevated. But let me tell you they are worth it, you can make mozzarella sticks at home and they taste heavenly.

So put on your big boy huggies and hold on to your hats, because you’re going to make mozzarella sticks at home!

Recipe – Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients

1 Pound of Whole Milk Dry Mozzarella

1 Cup Panko

1 Cup Italian Breadcrumbs

2-3 Eggs

2-3 Cups of Peanut Oil

Method

Step 1 – Cut the mozzarella into longitudinal lengths (about finger size thickness), then place on a baking sheet and freeze.

Step 2- After approximately 2 hours, remove from the freezer, then coat the cheese in the egg and breadcrumb mixture and fry in the hot oil.

Step 3- Once the crust is golden brown all around, remove and serve immediately!
